Lori Collingsworth is a Tax Principal at Rogers & Company, and is Director of the Tax Services practice. Lori has over 23 years of experience providing tax, compliance, and consulting services to tax-exempt organizations. Prior to joining our firm, Lori worked as a Tax Senior Director at the national firm of BDO USA, LLP, where she also specialized in tax-exempt organizations. Lori oversees all aspects of the firm’s tax compliance and information reporting including preparation, review, and quality assurance review of tax returns and benefit plan audits. She has provided a wide array of business advisory services to associations, foundations, and other exempt organizations.

Lori’s experience with tax-exempt organizations provides our clients with valuable insight into tax compliance and planning, transactional structuring, UBIT considerations, lobbying and political activities, fund-raising and solicitations, international operations, joint ventures, and other complex areas affecting nonprofits. She has assisted clients with IRS audits, organizational setups, and private foundation operations and terminations. She has addressed the leadership of numerous associations and other not-for-profit organizations on diverse and complex tax topics such as excise taxes, self-dealing transactions, private letter rulings, taxable expenditures, intermediate sanctions, supporting organizations, public support, reorganizations, and cost allocations.

Having extensive experience in assisting nonprofits with the tax implications of new business ventures, programs, and activities makes Lori an invaluable resource for our clients. She is a licensed CPA in Virginia and DC, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, and Greater Washington Society of CPAs. She graduated from Texas Tech University with an M.S. in Accounting.
