Leadership

The leadership for any firm sets the tone and culture, and ultimately has the most significant effect on the extent of quality service and value clients will receive. Our executive management team is comprised of professionals who have dedicated their careers to excellence in leadership, technical expertise, client service, and communication. More than other firms, our directors and partners maintain a high level of direct involvement in our client engagements. This enables us to more efficiently render services while providing our clients with more direct access to the expertise our firm offers. Our leaders consist of a diverse group of professionals with a shared vision of promoting an environment that supports uncompromising value and service.

The following are the firm's Directors for each major practice area:

Darrin S. Rogers, CPA, CMA

Managing Partner



Darrin S. Rogers is the founding member and Managing Partner of Rogers & Company PLLC. He has over 27 years of diversified public accounting experience with a special focus in the not-for-profit industry. In addition, he has served clients in the real estate, technology, and service industries. Darrin's prior experience included working in the Washington, DC offices of Price Waterhouse LLP, Deloitte & Touche LLP, and Grant Thornton LLP where he served as Director of Assurance Services for the nonprofit industry practice. Darrin has developed a reputation for possessing a unique blend of technical expertise and attentive client service. Highly professional and approachable, he provides substantive business insight while developing viable solutions to complex problems.

In addition to being the firm's Managing Partner, Darrin oversees the firm's audit practice and acts as the client service partner for some of the firm's largest association and charitable clients. He has consulted with clients on a broad range of business and technical topics, including risk assessment and management, financial accounting and reporting, tax compliance and planning, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic business management. His experience includes overseeing financial statement audits under both U.S. and international standards, OMB Circular A-133 audits, due diligence and agreed-upon procedures, benchmarking studies, and exempt tax compliance and reporting. He has taught courses on emerging nonprofit technical issues at national conferences and educational institutions, and makes numerous presentations annually to Boards and executives on audit, tax, and financial accounting matters, as well as industry trends.

Darrin is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia, Maryland, and DC, and a Certified Management Accountant. He's a member of the American Society of Association Executives, Greater Washington Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, and the Institute of Management Accountants. He graduated from Radford University in Radford, Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and a Minor in Mathematics. While at Radford University, Darrin received state and national honors in accounting through Phi Beta Lambda. He is an audit committee member for some of the world's most recognized charitable organizations.

 

Lori A. Collingsworth, CPA

Director of Tax and Compliance Services



Lori Collingsworth is a Principal at Rogers & Company, and is Director of the Tax Services practice. Lori has over 16 years of experience providing tax, compliance and consulting services to tax-exempt organizations, as well as taxable corporations, partnerships and pass-through entities. Prior to joining Rogers & Company, Lori worked as a Principal in a national public accounting firm, where she also specialized in tax-exempt organizations and general corporate tax compliance. Lori oversees all aspects of the firm's tax compliance and information reporting including preparation, review and quality assurance review of tax returns. She has provided a wide array of business advisory services to associations, foundations, and other exempt organizations, as well as clients in other industries such as software, government contracting, real-estate, and professional services.

Lori's experience with tax-exempt organizations provides our clients with valuable insight into tax compliance and planning, transactional structuring, UBIT considerations, lobbying and political activities, fund-raising and solicitations, international operations, joint ventures and other complex areas affecting tax-exempt organization. She has assisted client's with IRS audits, organizational set ups, and private foundation operation and termination. She has addressed the leadership of numerous associations and other not-for-profit organizations on diverse and complex tax topics such as excise taxes, self-dealing transactions, private letter rulings, taxable expenditures, intermediate sanctions, supporting organizations, public support, reorganizations, and joint cost allocations.

Lori is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia and Virginia, and is a member of Greater Washington Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master of Science in Accounting.

 

Laine Cocca, CPA

Director of Accounting Services



Laine Cocca is a Principal at Rogers & Company, and is Director of the Accounting Services practice, while also providing CFO support to several of the firm's largest outsourced accounting services clients. Prior to joining the firm, Laine worked in the accounting services practice of a regional CPA firm, and she has also held Chief Financial Officer positions at both a large association and a public charity. With 13 years' experience serving the nonprofit industry, Laine has a special focus on providing finance and accounting services to a wide array of associations, foundations, and other exempt organizations. Laine prides herself on being responsive, reliable, and resourceful for all her clients, and has a solid reputation in the industry for exceptional client service.

Laine's experience includes overseeing all financial and administrative operations, including financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, transactional processing, strategic planning, systems installations, human resource functions, tax compliance, audit preparation, grant and proposal writing, compliance, policies and procedures implementation, and a multitude of other financial and operational oversight functions. She has managed accounting departments of all sizes, and has worked directly with Boards and other oversight bodies to support their governance roles by providing effective and timely financial and strategic analysis. She serves as Treasurer for Dress for Success Washington, DC. Laine is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Maryland and the District of Columbia, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and a member of Greater Washington Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, and the Maryland Society of CPAs. She earned a Master of Science in Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Wake Forest University.

 

Alok Kakker, CISA

Director of Technology Risk Management



Alok is a Director of Technology Risk Management with our firm, with over 16 years of experience in corporate compliance, technology risk management, and technical implementations. His experience includes IT risk assessments and control testing, SSAE No.16, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, corporate governance assignments, and remediation of operational, project, and business issues. He has extensive knowledge of ITIL, ISO 17799, COBIT, FISMA, NIST standards 800 series, and FIPS 199, 200.

A client service driven management executive, Alok has worked with small start up enterprises to Fortune 500 companies providing a wide array of technology risk management services. Alok holds a Masters in Science, Operations Research & Applied Statistics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a member of ISACA. Prior to working with Rogers & Company, Alok was an Enterprise Risk Management Consultant with Deloitte & Touche LLP and a Senior Computer Systems Engineer with Advancia Corporation. He is currently a principal for Annuk Incorporated, which focuses on risk assessment and technology support services for international companies.

 

Jodi C. Rogers, CPA

Director of Enterprise Solutions



Jodi has over 23 years experience in planning, designing, developing, implementing and supporting financial system solutions for businesses. She has in-depth experience as the project manager and the implementer of large scale and mid range systems for the Public Sector, Financial Services, and Communications industries. Jodi is well versed in the challenges faced by these businesses as well as the solutions and systems to support them, and possesses extensive hands on experience with Oracle Financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Fixed Assets and Accounts Receivable.

Jodi's experience includes managing the development of major enterprise-wide financial management and reporting systems for some of the world's largest governmental, private, and publicly-held institutions. replica watches swiss She has successfully managed the installations of Global Integrated Financial Systems, Global Financial Systems Architecture, and all major releases of Oracle Financials.
